MALAHIDE Chamber of Commerce has backed a campaign by a local swimming committee to have a regular bathing spot officially recognised as a swimming facility by Fingal County Council. The spot at Low Rock on the Coast Road between Malahide and Portmarnock, has been the subject of a long-running campaign by local swimmers who want to see better facilities put in there for regular bathers.

At a local area committee for the Howth/Malahide Ward the council have committed tens of thousands of Euro to improve road safety at a dangerous bend on the Coast Road, between Malahide & Portmarnock. The bend, know locally as High Rock has been subject to many accidents over the years, the most recent of which occurred in January 2009.
