Brickfield / Seagrange Park South zoning victory

Thursday, March 18th, 2010
Statement (by Brian Greene Socialist Party) on Brickfield Rezoning vote 15/03/2010 “Urgent action required or community will be forced to intervene.” “Monday’s Development Plan vote saw 22 councillors (out of 22 present) reject the rezoning on Brickfield at the South end of Seagrange. Following such resounding rejection any future rezoning of this land must be a non starter. ” says Brian Greene Public Rep. Socialist Party Dublin North East. The same land faced two votes during the creation of the 2005-2011 Development Plan and also a plan for a variation in 2008. Public pressure defeated these moves. The residents of Sutton Park & Baldoyle will not ...

Name that park. Baldoyle high amenity park needs a name

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
The high amenity park due to open in Baldoyle in January 2010 needs a name. Can you suggest one. The land was once owned by Frank Dunlop (who claimed he bribed six county councillors to rezone it for him) what was once the world famous Baldoyle Racecourse. The land was rezoned in the 90’s as local councillors gave way to allow development on this green belt that now has stages of the Coast development built upon it. It has had a working title of ‘Millennium Park’ for about 13 years but due to its extreme late delivery it is deemed inappropriate ...

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
During the course of my canvass, many residents highlighted that the grass areas were not being maintained appropriately and that the grass had not been cut in some time. I have followed this issue up with the Parks Department of Fingal County Council. The Deed of Dedication of open space has just been completed and the open spaces have been officially transferred for maintenance to Fingal County Council. The Parks Department has assured me that cutting the grass in your estate is a priority but that the grass was too wet to cut which would do more damage if it wasn’t let ...

Flood risk to coast studied

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009
A MAJOR study of flood risk on the Fingal Coast will bring relief to areas of old Portmarnock and Kinsealy Lane that experienced flooding last summer but the council is also carrying out work to relieve the problem in the meantime. To address this issue the council has appointed consultants to carry out a catchment-based flood risk assessment and management study of the area. It is anticipated that flood risk maps will be available later this year, as part of this study and that a comprehensive study report will be available in 2010. Answering questions from Cllr Eoghan O'Brien (FF) and Cllr ...

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009
PUBLIC MEETING APRIL 30th 8pm Boys National School, Brookstone Road. DERELICTION: DUMPING : DRUGS ABANDONED COUNCIL DEPOT A SERIOUS PROBLEM over the past 10 months the abandoned council depot at Seagrange Park has become more derelict, has experience increasing fly tipping and has now been raided by Gardaí with dogs looking for drugs.
