MORE than 2,600 Fingal businesses, predominantly in the retail sector, will face a cumulative increased rate liability of approximately € 13 million under the revaluation process under way in the region. County Manager David O'Connor said he was extremely concerned at the impact some of the rate increases determined through the process would have on ratepayers, particularly in light of the very difficult year ahead.

The resort still bustles during the day according to councillors, but some admit its nightlife is not what it once was. Representatives of Sinn Féin held a meeting in Howth on 30th April with local fishermen from County Fingal to discuss the issues currently threatening the livelihood and culture of those in the fishing industry. The meeting was attended by Mary Lou McDonald, and Martin Ferris TD, party spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Development and Marine and Natural Resources.
